My friends and I were in town for the weekend and we walked about 40 minutes to get to this place because one of the girls was determined to eat there. We finally got there and were sat immediately. It is a bustling kind of atmosphere, loud, great people watching and worth the walk. They have a giant table that could probablt seat 20 people in the middle of the restaurant. That was surronded by a bunch of four tops and then there were little bistro tables that lined the walls. Very laid back, really cool.I had the linguine w/cockles and it was really good. It wasn't too much food and it also wasn't a pretentiously small serving, either. My friend ordered the mac-n-cheese and I spent most of the lunch eating off of her plate. It was the most amazing mac-n-cheese EVER!! Seriously. It was made with gruyere, beschamel, and bacon. Not for the weak of heart, literally, with a bad artery it could probably kill you. However, if I could choose my last death meal it might very well be the mac-n-cheese at Pastis.

best bussiest brasserie, years pass, still classy, still edgy

This is a sister restaurant to Soho's Baltazar, with a similar menu but less frantic atmosphere. Warm buzzing atmosphere, excellent food and service.

Meat packing district. From the Ace - Get on the subway at 28th street to 14th street and walk to 9th Avenue and Little 12th. Pastis has great service (the busy hostess graciously took a picture of us and made we liked it) and the food was amazing. French Onion Soup - a must!
