Bo.lan has been reviewed as one of the best Thai restaurants in Bangkok, and they're not wrong. The owners are former David Thompson (Nahm at the Halkin/Darley St Thai in Sydney) chefs, and that experience shines through in what these two talented chefs deliver. The starter of 5 small dishes gives you a very clear view of what Thai food is all about. The second dish was launched an all out assault on a variety of frints, and the third dish, peace in our time (and this time correctly so). The young guy looking after me that night helped with selecting a few dishes that were superb and included a yellow curry of pork rib, a stir fry and the dish of the night (and contender for dish of the year) a clam and ginger soup. Brilliant food, and not dumbed down to keep the tourists content. There is also a degustation which could be useful if you're there with playmates. The wine list is OK, the beer cold. There is a cocktail list but on my one visit I'd suggest sticking to the beer...lots of good intentions but the execution needs a little more experience and guidance.
